The Chamber is pleased to announce that Mr Duncan Ord OAM will join its Board in November 2026, bringing with him extensive leadership experience across Western Australia’s arts, culture, education, training, planning and Aboriginal affairs sectors.
Mr Ord is widely respected for his deep understanding of the arts and culture landscape in Western Australia, having worked at senior levels across government, cultural institutions and community organisations.
His appointment will further strengthen the Chamber Board’s sector expertise, strategic leadership and capacity to advocate for a thriving and sustainable cultural future for WA.
Mr Ord’s distinguished career includes serving as Dean of the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, General Manager of the WA Theatre Company and Black Swan Theatre, and Chair of the Arts, Sport and Recreation Industry Training Council. He has also contributed nationally through roles on Australia Council boards and committees.
Following a significant career in the public service, including serving as Director General of several government departments, Mr Ord was awarded the Order of Australia Medal in 2013 in recognition of his service. He is also the recipient of a Churchill Fellowship and a Canadian Arts Fellowship.
Fiona Sinclair, Chair of the Chamber Board, said Mr Ord’s appointment would bring valuable insight and experience to the organisation.

He will provide valuable insight and perspective as the Chamber continues to strengthen its advocacy and strategic influence across Western Australia’s creative and cultural landscape,” said Ms Sinclair.
“His understanding of the arts and culture sector is both deep and practical, shaped by his leadership across government, training, education, theatre and infrastructure. He brings a rare breadth of experience, and his appointment will further strengthen the Chamber Board at an important time for the sector.”
Mr Ord said he looked forward to supporting the Chamber’s work on behalf of its members and the broader arts and culture community.
